Am I An Empath?

PERHAPS

I Seem To Possess The Signs …

This Question Came To Surface Recently When I Asked Myself:

“Why Do People Come Into Our Lives?”

… What Purpose Do We Serve In Meeting?

IS IT MERELY CHANCE

Or, Is There A Greater Connection …

I Know – By Any Degree – I Am A Highly Sensitive Person.

“I Identify Intimately As A Pacifist.”

… Though That In Itself Is Not Reason Enough To Believe.

DEEP EMPATHY

Taking On Other People’s Emotions As My Own …

I Rank High In This Regard.

I Am Aware.

… Cognizant Of Energy And Emotions.

SUDDEN OVERWHELMING EMOTIONS

Is This Simply Anxiety …

Or Something More?

This Isn’t About Self

… But Of The Emotions Of Others Close By.

THE VIBE

Possessing Extreme Sensitivity To The Feel Of My Surroundings …

I Do Best In Calm And Peaceful Environments

“Chaotic, Demanding Or Depressing Situations Are Draining.”

… I’ll Seek Refuge And Restorative Means To Recalibrate Energy.

UNDERSTANDING

Where People Are Coming From …

Perhaps, My Strongest Trait Beyond Intuition.

The Flow Never Stops.

… Connecting And Understanding Others.

PEOPLE TURN TO ME FOR ADVICE

Almost Never Ending …

If I Have A Super Power Worthy Of Sharing

Its My Ability To Listen

… Responding With A Truthful Heart.

TRAGIC OR VIOLENT EVENTS IN THE MEDIA

May Overwhelm Me …

I Need To Look Away.  I Must Look Away.  I Do Look Away.

Be In My Company While Watching A Disturbing Scene

… And, Either I’ll Cover My Eyes Or Leave The Room.

INABILITY TO CONTAIN MY LOVE OF ANIMALS & BABIES

I’m Hopeless Around Animals …

Domestic Pets, Especially.  Equal Dog Lover And Cat Lover.

As For Babies, I’m A Pincher Of Chubby Ones … Chunky Legs And Toes.

… Their Cries Resonate, Their Giggles Infectious.

BECOMING OVERWHELMED IN INTIMATE RELATIONSHIPS

I Am Highly Aware Of Moods In Past Partners …

Cognizant Of Their Energies.  Negative And Positive.

Empath’s Typically Seek Refuge Or Sanctuary In Their Own Homes

Mine Has As Much Been About Time Alone – Early Mornings / Late Evenings – Moreso Than An Escape Room Or Dedicated Private Space.

A WALKING LIE DETECTOR

My Second Super Power …

Before Another Opens Their Mouth, I Know It.

Its Not Superficial Judgement.

… Its Inherent Instinct In Picking Up Cues And Energy.

CANNOT SEE SOMEONE IN PAIN

Without Wanting To Help …

It’s Not Remotely In My Nature To Walk Past Someone In Need.

While I’m No Ghandi Or Mother Teresa …

… Doing Nothing Isn’t Me.

FEEL PEOPLE’S PHYSICAL ILLNESSES

Not Just Their Emotions …

No.  To My Clearest Constitution, I Don’t Recall Ever.  Yet, Once, At A Particularly Troubling Time I Prayed To God

Asking Him To Pass The Emotional Pain Of Heartbreak Someone Had Suffered By My Actions … Into Physical Pain That I Could Bear As Penance … A Form Of Self-Flagellation.

The Father Delivered … Swiftly … Assuredly …

SO, AM I AN EMPATH?

I Don’t Know … It Doesn’t Matter.

Having Empathy Matters.  Helping Others.  Being Aware.

Being Kind.  Giving.  Loving.

… Let’s Start There.

  1. Writer of words

This hurts my heart a little. I have too many thoughts percolating through my head to type it all out here and bore you/everyone to tears. 🙂

You have a lovely way with words. Words, I think, connect people. I like the written word. The shared word. It works for me.

Sorry to have stirred emotions so. I was hoping this would help elevate awareness and how our energies exchange, move, transcend beyond the moment.

Thank you for the compliment. We’re all wonderful with words. I’m constantly in awe of so many writers on WP.

This spoke to my heart, maybe because it sounds like me! Lover of animals and babies. Can’t stand to see people on pain. Wanting to constantly help others. Always aware when someone is lying. Wondering why I met certain people. Great poem, Michael! I’m a fan ❤🦋😍

This is a compelling message shared from your heart. How we respond to another’s need or situation reveals pieces of the heart beyond how one feels. What we do is what makes the difference. Thanks for sharing Michael.
